Outreach & Service Committee Seeking
Volunteers for Gettysburg Soup Kitchen
Trinity has been committed for over 20 years to providing and serving a meal at the Gettysburg Soup Kitchen the first Saturday of every month. Last year, we averaged serving 38 people each Saturday. Once again, we are looking for families, friends, groups, etc. to offer to take a month and prepare the meal and/or serve it. The meals do not have to be elaborate, just filling. Your time to serve the meal is only approximately three hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you only want to provide the meal, we can find people who will serve it.
Our service helps people in our community who are homeless, seniors who are on fixed incomes, people who are looking for companionship, or some people who are just in between phases in their life and need a little assistance.
Please consider becoming involved in this much needed outreach service. Contact Ruth Sobotor if you want more information on how you can help.

"Adopt A Member"

Trinity members and/or families are being asked to consider adopting one of our members on the shut-in list. During the year, you would keep in touch with that person through visits, cards, phone calls, or other thoughtful ways to let them know that they are special and being thought of by their church family. If interested or wanting more information, contact Ruth Sobotor or call the church office at 717-677-8921 or office@trinityarendtsville.org.

It is a very rewarding experience and the residents are so grateful for your help. Contact Marcia Phillips at 717-642-9798 to tell her the date that you will be able to help.

Trinity's "Wellness Group' Available to Assist

Because of several past events with some of our Trinity members, it was suggested that a "Wellness Group" be established. The purpose of this group would be to perform wellness checks on Trinity members who live alone. A volunteer would agree to call a designated member either daily or twice daily to verify that they are okay. The number of calls per day and time of day would be determined by the individual member living alone. Each prospective member would be contacted to see if they wish to participate in this program. If interested, a volunteer would be assigned to that person.

The following information would be provided by each member:
  • Telephone number where they can be reached.
  • An emergency contact person if they are not reachable.
  • The name of someone who would have access to their residence.
  • Time of day and frequency of wellness calls.
  • Agree to advise their volunteer if they plan to be away from their residence.
This program has been established and is currently available. Anyone willing to serve as a volunteer or if you know a Trinity member or community person who is interested in being on the Wellness Call List, please contact Dick Price at 677-6901 (home) or 339-6834 (cell).

Will YOU please help the local children
in our Upper Adams School District?

John's Meals needs your help! The volunteers for John's Meals pack and deliver three weekend meals and snacks to the children from food insecure homes in the Upper Adams community. We provide these weekend meals to the children at the Arendtsville, Bendersville, and Biglerville Elementary Schools.
BUT -- We need more teams to pack and deliver weekend meals since expanding our mission!
The volunteer teams should consist of three to four people to pack food bags and then deliver and hand out the bags to children at an elementary school at 3:00 p.m. at the end of the week. Each team would be scheduled to deliver the weekend meals approximately once a month. We can provide assistance to volunteers to apply for security clearances as required by the school district.
PLEASE consider volunteering for this outreach to the children in our community! It would be great if all of our area churches could provide one or more teams to become involved in this mission! Please contact Pam Taylor, John's Meals Volunteer coordinator, at taylor245@comcast.netor 717-528-8470.
